Beyond Survival

If I could spend the rest of my short time on earth reassuring the few who feel anxiety and suffer episodes of protracted self-reproach about “wasting” their time when they’ve understood that we are born for a goal beyond survival — to explore a unique awareness — and not, from lack of imagination, to extend survival into acquiring land, houses or skimming time, work and the satisfaction of another’s appetites to feed one’s own — but to help those scarcely surviving and pursue symbolic activities, to create! — it’d be enough if even momentarily these true souls would quit their contrition to speak, dance and laugh with me and each other to celebrate that despite all doubts and travails they pursue what is noble in life.
